Monday’s boys’ varsity game recaps: Conestoga scores three in the third to down Strath Haven 6 – 4

Strath Haven 4 @ Conestoga 6
The Conestoga Pioneers scored three, third period goals to break a 3 – 3 tie entering the final period to defeat the Strath Haven Panthers 6 – 4. Frank Konopasek would net his second goal on the night 4:16 into the third to give the Pioneers a 4 – 3 lead. Less then a minute later, Robert Latulippe made it a 5 – 3 game. With 8:55 left in the game, Blayden Reid brought the Panthers within one. Strath Haven’s Ryan Spanier was called for holding to give the Pioneers the man advantage. A minute later Conestoga’s Jack Tabata would score his second goal of the game to close out the scoring to make it 6 – 4. The Panthers Blayden Reid (1 goal and 2 assists) and Ryan Spanier (all assists) each had three points while Konopasek had four points (2 goals and 2 assists) and Tabata had three points (2 goals and 1 assist) respectively for Conestoga.  Malcolm Roeder turned aside 39 of 43 shots in the win while Kadin Matotek stopped 14 of 20 shots in the loss.
