Tuesday’s boys’ varsity game recap: McDougall’s goal in OT lifts Penncrest to victory

Ridley 4 @ Penncrest 5 – OT
Ian McDougall’s goal just 1:45 into overtime gave Penncrest a 5 – 4 win over Ridley. Cameron Wolf got the Lions on the board just twenty-eight seconds into the game. Ben Samano would double Penncrest’s lead to 2 – 0 when he beat Ridley’s goaltender Michael Fideli with five minutes remaining in the opening period. The two teams then would exchange goals in the second. First, Thomas Avellino scored just fifty-one seconds into the middle period to cut Ridley’s deficit in half. Then the Lions reclaimed their two-goal lead when Dylan McDougall scored his first goal on the season. Ron Higgins would make it a 3 – 2 game scoring a powerplay goal for Ridley. Shane Kokoska would score his second goal of the season to give the Lions a 4 – 2 lead. But Ridley wasn’t finished. Eric Miller would cut the Raiders deficit in half by beating Gannon Walker. Avellino then would score his second goal of the game to tie it at four with 5:33 remaining in regulation. Ian McDougall had three points (1 goal and 2 assists) in the win while Avellino (2 goals and 1 assist) and Miller (1 goal and 2 assists) each had three points for the Raiders. Box score.
