The Jaguars got on the board first when Katie Smiley skated down the far side boards and took a wrist that beat Bearcats goalie Morgan Thursh high, shortside. A little over a minute later Ava Rinker would score her first goal of the game to give the Bearcats a 2 – 1 lead. With 7:34 left in the third, Rinker would double the Bearcats lead when her shot was deflected past Papoutsis to make 3 – 1. With timing running out, the Jaguars jammed the net and Maddy O’Malley tucked in a rebound past Thursh to make it 3 – 2 but it was enough as the Bearcats held on to win the championship. Thursh stopped 9 of 11 shots while Papoutsis – who played extremely well and kept the Jaguars in the game – turned aside 19 of 22 shots.
